I Miss Little Miss

It's been years since my Little Miss Stevie passed away; and I still miss her dearly.

Thing is: I'm still finding her bum-fluff feathers everywhere in the house! It's amazing how far those feathers get to go, no matter how much I clean this place!

But I do have her photos here, and still put up her ornament at Christmastime. However, I have replaced the old tree she 'decorated' with her bum-fluff feathers with a new 6-foot tree just last year.

In truth, I had to.

You see, I've got so many lovely ornaments and I really have wanted a 6-footer for years, but I haven't been able to afford one. So, I went out to Target and bought one. It's just some of the things in the place I wish I had bought when she was around... but you see my little bird was with me when I didn't have a car; which would have been great - you know to have a little bird and my car to travel with me places. But I guess I couldn't have everything.

Anyway, I still miss my little blue bird, for her song, her personality... and her strange taste in television shows (yep, she loved 'Supernatural' and hated talk shows) and she grooved to 'Santana' - especially 'Moonflower' second vinyl, side 2 last song... aahh... the big drum solo. She always acted like she was in a trance when that song came on, dunno why, or how, it just put her into one - and I always found it hilarious.

The things animals do when you play music to them... funny as hell.

Christmas Time

Little Miss Stevie passed away on 8th, December, 2012. It was a Saturday afternoon, just on sunset as the skies were turning burnt oranges and hot pinks... a great end to a day - and a great end to a bird's life too.

But for a few years, I found Christmas a very sad time of year for me; as it was so close to that time of year where we were supposed to be celebrating so much, and yet I had lost that special little fluffy pet in my life; right when I needed her the most at that point in my life too.

It's been 5 years, and I still hate putting up the Christmas tree, mainly because there's bum-fluff feathers all over the darned thing!

So, this year, I went out and bought myself another tree - a new, taller one - and it's made me feel better.

Now, I still have memories of Little Miss Stevie, but they're funny memories. Of her reaction to the streamers on the Small Leaf Jades outside, and how she'd stare at the reflections on the ceiling of the living room. She'd screech as the sound of children anywhere near the house. Yes, she wasn't a fan of children being around the house and yet I wasn't really either.

And then there was her Christmas Ornament that I bought her only two years before she passed away and yet when she did pass on, I took it back and got the lady who decorated it to put the years on it of when I had her... which she did for nothing. And I do appreciate it that she did that for me. I did have the money to do that.

Anyway, buying the new tree was something I really just loved doing because it was something I could afford and it was also something to add to my house ... for the year to come.

I still remember how much my little bird loved this time of year; as I always bought her something she enjoyed either playing with or eating. But the year she passed away, I bought her nothing. I thought that we had a pretty good life together and our life with each other would be better than any present.

And isn't that the point of Christmas? I think so.

Not Long Now!

Mum went out reely early this morning leaving me with the dumb fishies. all they do is swim around in all that water and chase each other around the castle. I have my friend in the mirror and she's nice to talk to.
before I knew it mum was back and she had bags of things with her of things that were for Krismas. she said it was all done and ready for sunday. i'm glad she doesn't like going out to the stores a lot at this time of year because it means she doesnt like crowds too much. but tomorrow she will be out again to do Krismas shopping for food. i cant wait for her to come home from that!

Summer? Winter?

In the mornings when Mum has opened the curtains, it has been looking strange outside. It's looked really cloudy and rainy and weird. Isn't it supposed to be Summer? Isn't it supposed to be sunny and hot and pretty and stormy? not cloudy and wet and sleepy and ... yuk.
Mum has been looking out there too saying it looks strange. The piano sounds horrible; but it's the rain making it sound like that, well Mum says.
I'm even being left at home tomorrow - Christmas Day! - because it wiill be too wet to take me places. Well, at least I'll be nice and dry and warm. How good is that? And Mum said I can open my presents today! I can see them from where I sit in my cage in gold paper.I can smell millet in one, but don't know what the other is.

Hot Days.

It's been hot while the sun is out and Mum is out a lot too. Like yesterday. She was out almost all day with her blue thing on wheels; and when she got home, it was full of all kinds of things. The window was open and a nice wind came in all day. She had bought me something from a pet shop; but thought about taking it back. Mum said it smelt like a dog licked it. But while she was on the phone, she talked to a friend and then went and put some of my cuttlefish in the washing tubs with water and now they don't smell like a dog licked it anymore.
I wonder what she did to get rid of the smell?
Today, Mum did a lot of washing and hanged it out on the line. She checked the post office and we got another card to put on piano.  And she wrapped more books in Christmas paper.
She was wrapping stuff last night too and putting them under the tree.  it looks all pretty now with the lights on at night.

The Sun!

It's been raining a lot for a long time.  But today, the sun was out and it was hot.  Mum opened the front window and a wind came in.  When she came back from the post office, she looked a bit sad.  Then, she showed me a pretty ornament with a bird on it; and got a bit sadder.  I think it was meant for another person but was sent to her instead. I wish I could do something to make her feel better.
But I like the ornament. It's red and the bird is white with its wing open and looks like it's flying. I hope Mum feels better soon and the sun stays here.

It's Christmas! it's wet!

Last weekend, Mum put the tree up.  First she took it outside in case she found a few things in it we both don't like.  When she came back in smiling, I knew it was going to be a fun day. Then, she put it up next to stereo!! Why did she have to put it up all the way over ther???
Okay, over the last few times I have had my home next to the weird-looking plastic tree, I've made out I hate it, but really I like it there because I have somewhere to put my flufy bum feathers. Now, I don't... but Mum figured that out when she put the tree up and down one side, she found my feathersfrom last year. So she took me out of the cage and put me on her shoulder to put the rest of the tree together. I liked it until she began geting too close... Then, I flew back to the cage.
The next day, it began to rain. Mum always knows how to make the rain happen.
