Summer? Winter?

In the mornings when Mum has opened the curtains, it has been looking strange outside. It's looked really cloudy and rainy and weird. Isn't it supposed to be Summer? Isn't it supposed to be sunny and hot and pretty and stormy? not cloudy and wet and sleepy and ... yuk.
Mum has been looking out there too saying it looks strange. The piano sounds horrible; but it's the rain making it sound like that, well Mum says.
I'm even being left at home tomorrow - Christmas Day! - because it wiill be too wet to take me places. Well, at least I'll be nice and dry and warm. How good is that? And Mum said I can open my presents today! I can see them from where I sit in my cage in gold paper.I can smell millet in one, but don't know what the other is.

Hot Days.

It's been hot while the sun is out and Mum is out a lot too. Like yesterday. She was out almost all day with her blue thing on wheels; and when she got home, it was full of all kinds of things. The window was open and a nice wind came in all day. She had bought me something from a pet shop; but thought about taking it back. Mum said it smelt like a dog licked it. But while she was on the phone, she talked to a friend and then went and put some of my cuttlefish in the washing tubs with water and now they don't smell like a dog licked it anymore.
I wonder what she did to get rid of the smell?
Today, Mum did a lot of washing and hanged it out on the line. She checked the post office and we got another card to put on piano.  And she wrapped more books in Christmas paper.
She was wrapping stuff last night too and putting them under the tree.  it looks all pretty now with the lights on at night.

The Sun!

It's been raining a lot for a long time.  But today, the sun was out and it was hot.  Mum opened the front window and a wind came in.  When she came back from the post office, she looked a bit sad.  Then, she showed me a pretty ornament with a bird on it; and got a bit sadder.  I think it was meant for another person but was sent to her instead. I wish I could do something to make her feel better.
But I like the ornament. It's red and the bird is white with its wing open and looks like it's flying. I hope Mum feels better soon and the sun stays here.

Early Christmas Presents

Yesterday, Mum went out to do some shopping.  She said she'd be home when she can.  When she left, it rained a lot and I was looking out at it while I munched on my millet.  I love millet.  I also at some of my seed; just so she is happy with me.
When she got home, she put a bag next to my cage and pulled out a white box with something inside it.  Mum was smiling as she pulled opened the box and there on a blue ball was my name in glitter!  Mum had bought me a cool Christmas ornament!  How fun is that?  She hung it in the tree so I can look at it all the time next some lights.  I like it a lot.

It's Christmas! it's wet!

Last weekend, Mum put the tree up.  First she took it outside in case she found a few things in it we both don't like.  When she came back in smiling, I knew it was going to be a fun day. Then, she put it up next to stereo!! Why did she have to put it up all the way over ther???
Okay, over the last few times I have had my home next to the weird-looking plastic tree, I've made out I hate it, but really I like it there because I have somewhere to put my flufy bum feathers. Now, I don't... but Mum figured that out when she put the tree up and down one side, she found my feathersfrom last year. So she took me out of the cage and put me on her shoulder to put the rest of the tree together. I liked it until she began geting too close... Then, I flew back to the cage.
The next day, it began to rain. Mum always knows how to make the rain happen.

I'm Famous!

Well, that's what Mum says. She has made a bookcrossing sticker out one my many photos and it's for sale on the cite where she socielises. I'm happy I guess but I'm wondering which photo she used.  I think it's the one you see here; yeah, she says it is.

Now, I think that's cute!

My Eye!

My eye is sore. I've been scratching around and getting dander off me and I scratched my right eye, now it hurts. Yestaday, I had it closed for along time. Mum got a big plastic thing and washed it out. I hated that but it felt better.

Today,I can open it, but it still feels a bit sore. I hope it gets better soon.
Mum looked up what can happen to my eyes in the budgie book she has about me and isn't worried enough to take me to Greencross Vet. She's good to me and has been giving me lots of cuddles so I feel better.

Halloween!

Last night was Haloween and Mum dressed up for it.  But she has been preparing for days for this. She bought two big pumpkins, put them on the fridge, then didn't eat them! But then, she cut the top off one and pulled out gooey smelly stuff that got all over her and the kitchen and into a bucket.  She carved big holes in the side and a creepy face; then did the same to the other one.
Yestaday afternoon she got dressed up, put on heavy make-up and put the pumpkins outside with candles in them. She hung a big white thing on the door and had things hanging off the window too. Mum came up to me before dressing up and gave me a long cuddle and then came to me again hoping I wuldn't run like I did last year. But no mattar what she looks like I know her voice and her eyes. I snuggled against her cheek and she was happy that I knew her. After that, we watched a movie she called The Rokky Horra Picta Show. A man in it was wearing women's unwear and make up with heels and it looked old; but Mum loved it.
Well, I better get back as my feet are getting sore, and I'm getting cold again. My cage it covered in my Winter Covers again... when will Summer come? Mum's making sure I'm warm because it feels so cold.

Yay! My New Swing!

Today was so hot!  My owner... well, I'm gonna call her Mum from now on... went out today. She had the blue trolley out and her bulky brown bag withher. It was shoping day. And when she got home, she pulled from the shoping trolley a new swing!  It's not wooden, its the right size and she put it in straight away!  I love it.  But the wood is really bright and white. Was it always that way? Doesn't matter.

I love my Mum... she is my owner and my Mum... because cares for me and knows what I like. She also got me Finch seed and not budgie seed. The new pet shop sounds like its a good one.

She Caught Me...

At first, I hated the big black thing next to my cage.  But when my owner put it there, it scared me. It was bigger than the last one we had; and I wanted it nowhere near me.  While she was out one day, I thought that sussing it out couldn't hurt. So, I climbed all over that side of my cage and looked through the bars... it didn't act mean and had one word on it. And from what my owner had called it, it's named Sony.
Then, each time my owner was either upstairs or out, I tried to be nice to the black thing called Sony. The other day, my owner found me out.  I jumped on it to see how mean it could be to me; and forgot she didn't no I was meant to hate it.

Oops...

So, last night, she got her camera out and filmed me.  I hate that camera. Now, it's on YouTube; from what I hear.

More Rain.

I enjoy the rain. but not this much rain. it's cold and my owner has pulled the curtain so the window doesn't let in the cold from the day. She's such a lovely person.
She gave me new millet today and I enjoyed eating that and ringing my bells withthe music on the radio.  Birds sangs while it poured rain outside.
Sometimes I wish i was a wild bird flying around with the other birds in the trees on nice hot fine days.  But its when it's raining and cold I'm grateful I have a cage of my own and a nice owner who keeps me warm and makes sure I'm okay. She gives me lots of cuddles on these wets days too so she knows I'm warm. I like that.
Well, I think I'll have a sleep for now while the day is dark and my owner is still up on the computer.  I hope she doesn't mind me using the keyboard. Better still, i hope she hasn't noticed some of the letters scratched off.

It's Supposed to be Spring.

I'm confused.

It's supposed to be Spring and it's getting colder instead of warmer.  My owner has been using my Winter covers almost every night and moved my cage back into the my Winter Position for tha last few days because it's warmer for me.
Last night, we had a lots of wind and rain around the place and my owner kept on checking outside to make sure it was okay. Today, it was sunny but cold. She did the laundry and it's out there drying in the wind while I'm here sitting in the sun.
But the house still feels cold.

When will it warm up?

New Things In The House

A few days ago, my owner brought in a really big box through the side door.  It was so big her Mum had to help her with it. They put it on the floor and left it there for a while.  Then, she came downstairs and opened it and began building the things inside it.  The first thing was a really big speaker with a hole in the front; which she put next to me.  Then, she put some others together that stood up on their own.
The sunwas down when she tried it out and she found when she turned on the this new thing, the picture on the television wasn't in colour. Her Dad came to help and they ended up making a phone call and then it was fixed. She showed me the things that stood up on their own and I found I could see the other birdie in them... how cool is that?  Another birdie in the new things in the house.  My owner is very cool.  She told me they are speakers; but I know they are just big mirrors for me to look at.

Owner's Birthday

It's my owner's birthday this week.  And she thinks it's cute to like getting older. Really, I don't like getting older; it means my feathers change, the ones on top of my head that is.  My stripes on my head turn white with each year I get older and she thinks it's cute and has called me her little Bald Eagle.

I guess I don't mind being called that.
But what does a budgie get their owner who has been caring for them for so long? I'll let you know when the day comes. She will show me her presents I'm sure.

Pet Shop Closing.

My owner went shopping today.  Usualy I know this because she gets her bag ready, the camera is checked for batteries and the big blue thing on two wheels comes out and she put in a whole lot of stuff to take with her; like the list, something to post and other things. Then, she closes the back door and is gone for along time... like she is upstairs.  But it's realy quiet.
But when she got home today, she was kinda quiet. She said to me the shop she got me from was closing in a few weeks. that's sad because she got all my food from there. That's probably why my millet ran out.
Oh! the other day, she got her Mum tobuy more millet!  It was from another pet store, but it was so good to see my millet back! My owner will have to get my seed and millet somewhere else I guess. I wonder where?

Sunny Days!

I been outside yesterday!  It was so much fun!  My owner took me outside and she sat with me and read a book while the sun and wind fluffed my feathers.  I loved it!  What a lovely time we had!
Sometimes we do this when the day is warm enough, and yesterday was.  Then, my owner looked up and saw some dark clouds coming.  It was time to go back inside.  She packed up her book and glasses and then we were back inside. But it was fun!

Wet Cold Day

It's been raining all day.  My owner pulled the covers off me this morning, but has just put them back on in the last few hours.  It got cold and dark; so I've been snoozing all day with the radio going.  It's nice to hear the rain on the roof.

My owner went out this morning to check the mail and came home.  Her shoes leaked, so she had to stuff the toe with newspaper and dry out her socks.  they were wet too.  Well, she might be coming down for something to eat soon and get a cuddle out of me. I hope her hands are warm.

Visitors!

We had visitors last week.  My owner was seen around the house for a reason, she was cleaning up for them to come over.  There was a tall skinny one called Geoff - he comes here a lot and is nice.  I've met his wife. She likes me.  Then there was this other man called stu who sat in my owner's place on the lounge and fiddled with his phone when it buzzed.  But he kept on looking at me.  He told my owner that he hadn't owned a budgie since he was young and thought I was very cute.  Stu just kept staring at me and my owner got me out of the cage and patted me while Stu watched. He thought it was lovely how my owner scratched me around my chin and my put my head back ( I really do like how it feels and she's so gentle about it).
Well, both of them were invited upstairs to look at the book collection, but came down empty-handed. Geoff normally borrows books off my owner once in a while to read. he must have enough books to read.
Today, my owner went shopping. She still came home without millet again.  I miss my millet; I'm wondering what's wrong.  I hope she gets some soon.

Cuddles and Warmer Days

My owner has been seen around the house a lot in the last week or so.  She is cleaning up and putting a lot of things in the big green bin with wheels on it outside.  All the paintings she isn't working on have been put away and the place looks nice and clean.  I liked it the way it I suppose, but it does look nice now too.
The other day, she went outside for a while and came back all sweaty and dirty.  I don't know what she did out there, but she was smiling.  I think humans are funny when it comes todirt; it must make them happy to be dirty.  I can't stand my feathers being out ofplace or dirty.  When my owner cuddles me, I have to spend some time putting my feathers back into the right places because she has messed them up.
Well, it's time ofr a nap.  I'm going on six next April, I sleep a lot now but enjoy being with my owner at night.

It's Spring.

In the last few nights, it's been warm; so warm that my owner hasn't needed to put the covers on me.  So, when she comes downstairs in the morning, what I've been up to (and getting up to) isn't a big secret anymore.  Bummer... I liked it that way.  She also sprayed me with water!  That's a lot of fun when it's hot enough; and yesterday was.
Today, before breakfast, my owner was out in the backyard working at getting plants in different pots and tidying up.  She even mowed the lawn.  She tells me it's not really lawn but weeds.  She came in with her hands dirty and her feet black.  Then, it was time to have breakfast after she washed her hands.  After eating, she was back out there again, but not for long.  I think she was putting things away and taking photos of the plants and garden.
She made her drink and has been on the computer for a long time.  My owner came downstairs to check on me once because the day got dark and looked like rain.  I even got a cuddle... and I like cuddles.
It's only Saturday and It's been a big weekend already.  My owner promised to play the piano today!  i can't wait!

The Weekend

Anotha weekend has been and Mum (well, maybe I should call her my owner) was busy again.  She cleaned up the house, did laundry and played the piano.  I like the sound of it; it's so pretty. She also gave me lots of cuddles and let me fly around; I love flying.
My owner threw out lots of things that have been sitting around the place.  She never used them but she threw them out with last week's paper.  She took photos of plants outside and brought a plant home and potted it.
We have been tidying up the house for a few days now.  It looks better.  I looked okay the way it was, but I guess it's because I'm just a bird.

Anotha Cold One

Mum came out this morning and lifted my covers to tell me that it was going to be a dull ol' day.  Me?  I still had my head stuck in my feathers and was on my swing.  She saw the bad look on my face and changed my food over before getting the bin in.  Then, she washed up and made breakfast; but I didn't want to get out of bed.
Before she rushed to go out, she gave me cuddle; but I wasn't too nice to her.  I nibbled on her hand twice, and she thought it was cute.  But after she put me back inside the cage, I jumpt back on my swing.

She's been out all day now; and I've had the house to myself.  How goods that?  I don't know where she went to, but I'm glad she left the curtain pull and my covers on.  It's been really cold.

Overnight Stay

Mum packed her bag yesterday.  Then, she packed all my stuff.  Then, her Dad came and we went to his place.  Yep, we stayed over somewhere els!  It was fun.
To make it more fun, Jay the dog came to stay too.  Gabe and Kat were going to a party and Jay stayed with Mum and me.  We watched 'Wolverine' and had the house to ourselfs.
This morning, I'vebeen put outside in the sun and everyone's talked to me.  Jay likes me and keeps looking at me. I'm happy we went somewhere together after a week of being on my own for a long time.  My Mum's the best.

All On My Own

I've had a lot of time on my own this week. On Wednesday
Mum went to the shop and came home in an orange car where the driver helped her with all her bags and she paid him.  While she was away, the radio was off but the birds outside sang.  Mum had left the window open because the day was hot and there was a nice wind.
She wasn't home for long. Mum went out early with her Mum until late.  The sun had gone down and she we to see a movie for free in the city called 'Solt'.
This morning, she took a long time to check the mail.  Came home to say it was wet and cold outside and she had visited some friends where they chatted.  I didn't mind. I was all snuggled on my swing because Mum had left the curtin pulled.
Now, Mum is on the computer hanging out there for the day. Tomorrow night we both going out for an overnight stay!  How exciting!

Another Day More Birdseed

Being a budgie is okay I guess; I can't compare it to anything
else because I haven't been anywhere besides here.  Every afternoon, when the sun goes away from my front window, Mum pulls the curtain and I jump on my swing.  Then, she closes up the whole house.  Usually, the radios been on all day and she turns that off and puts on the news; and then MASH comes on.
My days are of me talking to the birdie in the mirror, ringing the bells in my cage, eating seed and millet and chewing up newspaper.  Otherwise, Mum gives me lots of tickles under my left wing and lets me fly around.
Yep, another day, two more scoops of birdseed.

Did It!

My old swing is back where it I want it!  Mum bought me a new one with hooks on it and itwas all wood.  But then, I spent the whole day on Wednesday chewing it up and unhooking it and Mum found it when she came downstairs.  Boy, was she mad.

But I got my old metal swing back.  Now, she has to look for the swing I like.

Isn't that cool?

Cold Day

Some days I'm really grateful Mum is so nice to me. This morning she pulled up the covers really gentle and said hello, then put them back down to go and get the bin.  It was cold outside you see and she didn't want me to get any cold wind on me. When she came back inside she pulled the covers back a little so the front of my cage was showing and the back and sides were still covered up. Then, she took out my food tray and changed my seed over and had a chat with me as she took out my millet to make me eat my bird seed.

Mum always feeds me before she makes herself anything to eat.
She washed up a bit and made breakfast then.  The day has been dull all since it started.  I'm happy she's left my covers on.  i'm all toastie in here... but she's upstairs all day.  I know she's thinking of me and can hear me sing.

It's a lazy day for both of us.  She is still wearing her slippers and hasn't unlocked the doors.  I think she'll stay home tomorrow too.

A New Swing!

I have a new swing.  You would think this was a good thing.  But you see Mum has bought two swings and has had to put the old one back in becasue the first one was too small.  And now, the second one is all wood and hangs by hooks.  She told me it's the only one she could find and has had to hang it on an angle; and it doesn't swing like the others.  But you know, I'm getting used to it.  If I chew at it long enough, it'll fall off the ceiling of the cage and she'll have to find the old one again and put it back in.

But this is just between you and me, okay?

Sunday, August 8, 2010

It's Sunday

Mum opened the curtains today and the sun came in on me;
but I didn't want to get out of bed.  She's so good to me when I'm not very nice to her.  She grabbed my food tray and filled it with lovely seed and bland crunchy stuff out of the fridge and the put it back in saying the same thing she says every morning: 'The breakfast of champions.' before
walking away.  And all i do is give her a horrible look and want to stik my head back in my feathers.  Then, she goes out the back, puts on a load of washing and goes out to buy the paper before making some grey ugly stuff for herself; and I thought i ate badly.
Mum reads the newspaper on Sundays. She loves the comics and hung out laundry while she read too.  Tomorrow she will be doing more laundry too before going out with her Mum - another human who loves me a lot and calls me a brat (but she doesn't mean it).
Today, I found out why Mums going out.  She pulled over a box full of stuff and took it all out, counting three of everything except the big orange vests and paint.  She took photos and I watched on.  Mum looked really excited about it all and put it back in the box to see if she could do it without the lid falling off; and she did!  I can't wait until I get to see the photos of what she's done.
Well, the sun is going away from my cage now and it's begining to get cold again.  So, I better screech to get her attention so she can pull the front green curtain to keep me warm.

Saturday, August 7, 2010

This afternoon

It's late and I'm about to go to bed, but I did try to get on here earlier but the net was down.  Mum tried really hard to get it back on, but it didn't work.  She said not to worry, the people who make it work will get it going soon.  And now, it's really late, it's working... just.

Well, today, Mum turned on the television and the Hawks were playing another team wearing red and white called the Swans; who were beating them.  So, she turned it off and played tha piano (I found out what it was called) and she's getting better at it.  The front door was open today and the house felt warmed up.
After that she put the radio on again and sat outside to read; but not for long because when she came back in and patted me, her hands were cold, so was her nose.  So, she had a shower. That's when she found out the net was down.

Well. Tonight, there wasn't much on television, so we watched a favourite vampire series she just got off layby with a hot Australian in it; Alex somebody.  It was really good.  And now, we're off to bed because it's getting really cold now.

My First Scratchings

Picking amongst the seed the other day, I wondered what my owner does when she's upstairs.  She assures me that - while I'm listening to the classic station, taking in the sun at the front window and watching the day go by - she is thinking of me.  But really, Idon't know what she does in that room where there are so many books.

My name is Little Miss Stevie.  I was bought at pet shop a little over five years ago and I have been at her house ever since.  Mum has been wonderful to me; teaching me things, showing me that she would never hurt me on purpos and knowing when I need a cuddle.
But then, there are times when she needs one too; and I'm just fluffly enough to do that for her, even tho I'm really small, she enjoys our time in the afternoons.  And I really do like her playing that big brown thing near the stairs no matter how bad she thinks she is.
My feet are sore from playing on this letter board so much. I must go and eat a little millet and see where she is now... it's time for another cuddle.
